Spread the ground beef out on rimmed baking pans. Some
people pat it down flat and others crumble it in the pans. Some people cover
the crumbles with water and others don’t. Bake at 350 for about an hour. Remove
from heat and drain off fat. When it’s cool enough to handle, break it up into
crumbles. Divide it into recipe-size containers and refrigerate, then freeze.
To use, thaw the meat, break it up, and use it in soups, casseroles, etc. as
you would browned ground beef.
From comments online, many commercial kitchens brown their ground beef in the oven when they need to cook large quantities.
